Huh. I don't know whether to be pleased or disappointed. I sort of enjoyed the gradual descent into exhaustion that the Recalibration Revival entailed.
I'd propose a 48 hour lake lighting event, but that's probably still going to take years to complete. _________________ -vid (KI: 00201880)

Silence you, I have it on VERY good authority (a forum post on the internet - surely nothing is more credible) that you have gone on a stabbing spree. Sit perfectly still whilst armed response units converge on your position and exercise both cruel AND unusual punishment on your stabbity self.
Or you could, y'know, move a few feet thus rendering their efforts in vain. But that's no fun. _________________ Julian Lapin - KI# 00393571

The GZ was indeed calibrated - My KI was giving me co-ordinates and the GZ light was sweeping D'ni.
And the stabbing is myth - dadguy is one of the good guys _________________ Mac_Fife (but just call me Mac) |

Much as I feared I haven't been able to head down the Cavern these last two days. I wish I could have witnessed first hand the meeting with Marie and Kodama. We've been waiting for a sign of life from the DRC for over a year and the day it happens I can't be here. Life is unfair.
Thanks for all the reports guys, it looked like a very friendly meeting.
So, it indeed seems like the influx of returning explorers lately is only going to get stronger... That will certainly be a refreshing change. |

I'm glad I was able to avoid any contact with DRC members. I have nothing against any of them, but given that particular instance I am not sure they would have been so pleased as they are trying to make us believe. Dr. Watson was there surreptitiously as well, eh? I thought I saw something... or someone as I linked into and out of the Library. That shadow really creeped me out and I reflexively linked to Relto.
Dr. Watson is ok. He gets it, I think. Not sure about the rest. _________________ Proudly affiliated with the Uru Community in all it's beauty (even when it's not so pretty)

I don't know about Laxman, but I think Marie and Kodama do, now. Their posts may not have conveyed it, but from my visit with Marie and from what others told me about their visit with Kodama, I get the distinct impression that they both felt a great sense of relief which was brought about by this incident. Of course, they can't admit it, but I think they're glad Watson gave them a reason to go to the cavern and meet with explorers. Perhaps they needed a sense of closure in order to move forward. I definitely got the impression that they now feel more relaxed around the explorers - less like the accidental celebrities they'd become. Now that everyone understands that they are currently unable to do any DRC work, they seemed quite content to just be one of us. I hope they'll come back to visit the cavern on occasion and just enjoy being explorers.
P.S. I'm looking forward to being able to work with you on the Guild of Healers research and holding our events out in the open, now. |

I agree with Tai'lahr... the DRC people have always been under pressure on many fronts since we've known them, I don't think they have really enjoyed the Cavern since the first opening, no matter how much work and dedication they put into it. I hope they can now visit the Cavern with a clear mind and heart. _________________ Ian A. Pertwee in Cavern - KI# 374362

Indeed, I hope they do too. Though I still hope they'll release some of their notes and such on a freetime basis, I'm fine with them doing no more for the restoration than the rest of us - doing our best not to break anything worse than it already is! |

I haven't been down in the cavern for a long time but now that it looks like access will be allowed again I hope those of you who have been there all along and made new discoveries will be able to share them. _________________ Ask not what UU can do for You! Ask what you can do for UU! |

I agree with Tai'lahr's interpretation: The whole demeanor of then both has changed, probably now that they are relieved of the pressures of opening new ages for explorers, satisfying benefactors, etc. They genuinely seemed to enjoy being in the Cavern and being around explorers.
Both Marie and Kodama were using what I can only describe as "stealth KIs" that wouldn't show on our own KIs, but I believe that was because they didn't know who or what to expect when they arrived. They certainly weren't trying to stay out of sight, and seemed to be actively seeking out groups of explorers to talk with (and I mean "with", not "to" or "at").
On Sunday, we wanted to show Marie something we'd noticed in EthanEver's Teledahn: Because these "stealth KIs" wouldn't allow a conventional invite to be sent, Marie used a trick that Victor Laxman had apparently shown her to link directly to Ethan's Relto where she could then use Ethan's Teledahn book. We ended up with quite a gang there, and it was great fun. I don't think the old "DRC Marie" would ever have gone along so readily. _________________ Mac_Fife (but just call me Mac) |

People don't just "change" overnight unless something has happened or unless they had to cover up their true personalities to begin with. Dr. Watson's actions make (cavern)sense to me, but the others -- I don't know -- something is just "off" about it.

There's something I've been wanting to show you. The whole business is starting to get to me, and I would sure appreciate another perspective on it.
Oh yes, oh yes, the events, of course! Of course we'll hold more events now! I've been busy at the forum, cleaning and dusting. Aunt Dolly has been a great help. She's been packed for some time. I noticed but I thought she was going to Mexico for a trip. Yesterday she smiled (in that way that she does) and said "No dear, we're going home. Aren't you ready yet?" _________________ Proudly affiliated with the Uru Community in all it's beauty (even when it's not so pretty)

I wouldn't say they've changed over night.
Marie has always been pretty mellow, my interactions with her when I was a DRC Liaison was always pleasant.
Kodama always came across as pretty terse, but he was very work focused, and was alright to chat to when he wasn't in his work mode of mind.
Both Kodama and Laxman mellowed with the DRC pulling out back in 04, both expressed an interest in taking Yeesha's journey. _________________ Beneath - Journal and archive of my time in D'ni. |
