Well sure most people know who I am anyway. I'm Tweek I run The D'ni Jazz Club and am a D'ni Historian. I was invited to visit D'ni briefly near the end of August 2003 taking a brief few hours to tour certain area's and ages.
I was invited down into the cavern to stay by Zandi at the end of August/start of September 2003.
I joined the guild of greeters then the DRC opened the cavern for people I was assigned to a small team called Rehearsal Explorers who's job it was to view area's the DRC had worked on to see if they were safe and "stress test" them for extended us before they were released to the public.
Sharper came around and I joined the Great Tree group then went on to form The Third Path.
After the DRC pulled out I was one of a group of "D'ni Raiders" that snuck back in to the Cavern to work on getting Nexus access and what not back up.
Took the Path of the Shell journey and another journey which I failed to complete. Since then I have been learning to Write.

I'm essjay. Back in November of '03, I heard "the call" and sent off a letter to Jeff Zandi telling him of my interest in exploring the Cavern of D'ni. He finally replied to me in early December of '03 and I made my way to the Cleft; and met Zandi personally! During my explorations I met up with Plinthon who had founded the Safety First Hood and after listening to her ideas and the intents of SF I joined upon her invitation. It was as a member of SF that I first came in contact with the "Sharperites" and although there were a number of somewhat acrimonious confrontations with them and SF; I never took it personally...in fact I became friends with a number of explorers who went on to become members of The Great Tree. However, my first loyalty is always to Safety First and of course, since they are so closely aligned with the principles of the DRC with that organization also.
When the DRC lost their funding and we all were forced to leave in February of '04 I was devastated. I frequently snuck back down to the Cavern to explore alone. Then, I got a letter in August of '04 from Victor Laxman. He was inviting me along with some other small groups of explorers to again join together and journey to the Caverns again! What a thrill!!! As more and more explorers also received letters the Cavern once again swelled with people.
I've been down there ever since; and I have started a number of small businesses which are doing quite well, including a catering business that has really started to take off. I've also joined a group, that with excellent communication equipment has formed to get Cavern news as well as entertainment to all those still in the Cavern...as well as those who have left. That group of course is Cavern Communications Network or CCN.
It's my hope that when (if) the DRC return, I will be able to continue with my small businesses as well as CCN and of course Safety First; as I see no possible reason any of them would interfer with the DRC. _________________ Citizen of Uru |

Hi, I'm Ashtar. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get down into the cavern until the "clerical error" occurred from Zandi. When I first arrived it didn't take me long to develop an inherent dislike and mistrust of the DRC. There were too many things that didn't set well with me, like the blocking of what seemed to be perfectly safe areas, the silence of the DRC in their archeological discoveries, and the incident with Phil. After making my travels through the various neighborhoods, I came across the Great Tree group and listened to what they had to say. It was then I realized I had found my new home.
After the DRC's finanaces ran out and they had to leave, I decided to stay. And using the resources at my disposal started the Great Tree shard. I'm the administrator of the facility, and my two co-admins are Weldergeek and a'moaca'. Please visit us if you get the chance! |

You all know me. Know how I make a livin. I'll catch this bird for ya. But it ain't gunna be easy.
Umm, I'm Toh'mas. Like Zardoz, I too stepped foot into the caverns in April 2002. Let's see, I'm nothing special of course. I was around for quite awhile, seeing what the DRC had discovered. Even unofficially ran the Kahlo Pub for awhile until the "incident." I took Yeesha's journey begrudgingly, and was none too pleased to be played the fool by her. Although my presence has been less of late, I'm around. Hmm, there's now bfioca, anti-fioca and tapioca. I guess I'll dub myself...Triple Venti Mocha. _________________ "Each minor problem like a grain of sand. Each night I inherit the desert." - Prince Sebastian LaCroix

Hi, my name is Corona, and I'm an alcoholic.
(Oh great, now you tell me. How embarrassing.)
I began exploring the Cavern in August 2003.

It was quite a learning curve getting used to the environment. |

Heya guys
My name is Hannah, but I've been going by the nickname Anna Catherine online for... well, a long time, and it kind of stuck (actually, I now wish I'd come up with something a bit more creative, but I didn't and I'm pretty sure it's too late now.) Some people also know me as Annacat.
In my life on the Surface I'm a student, working on a Master's Degree in Folklore. Those of you who read D'ni-related internet sites other than this one may know me from MystCommunity.com or the Narayan Collective. (My obsession with Narayan is ongoing and may border on the pathological, but that's sort of what I'm known for. Being a Narayan-lover, I mean, not for being pathological. I hope. )
I've never been able to join the rest of you in the Cavern, but I have visited D'ni, as well as a number of other Ages, and like the rest of you have had my fair share of adventures.
That doesn't mean I'm not aware of what what went on (and goes on) in the Cavern, though. I've always watched with interest, and I hope that at some point I'll be able to take part, in some way or another.

Ah, an introductions thread! I probably should have used my head and thought of looking for this!
Like Hannah I've never been able to join you all in the Cavern thus far, although I have been watching events unfold in the past and hope to join you all in the future!

You can say i was not drawn to the caves as most.... i was drawn after coming to the cavern. I came with a friend - he wanted to show me some "real awsome cavern that'll blow your mind away", as he said... "Well, sure, why not" i says. "Winter kinda sucks, right now" (i live in Quebec City), "New Mexico sounds good." Off we went. He had been there before, had all sorts of notes. Said he felt a strong "connection" to there (i though he was out of his tree...). The day before we were to actually go out to the desert, he fell quite ill - even had to go back home. Left me his notes - which were quite clear - and i followed them. Met that Zandi dude - nice guy, but he rambled on about obscure things, and about being drawn here... uhmmm whatever - actually, i just came to hike, and mostly snoop. That's how i am. When i was a kid, if i had an old (shot ) stereo system and a set of screwdrivers, i was as happy as a pig in mud. Well, anyways, the snooping got a little out of hand (actually, i got curious as to what Zandi was talking about "She's left a mesage for you..." HUH? Who?), and this "quest - no, request" was getting quite interesting - i wanted to see what was going to happen (especially weird glowing "placemats" - that's what i called the jouney cloths, then), what it was about. When i linked to my Relto.... that did it - this was too cool, i had to go on - so you can say i was drawn after coming here... I guess it just "wakes up" later , in some people...
I returned for a second "expedition" before heading back home (finished it about ... 2 weeks ago), and was finally able to walk around Ae'gura, got the Great Zero device working, and i'm getting ready for my 3rd expedition... something about a "path of the shell".... not sure. More stuff to see.
Hey - i saw the old pub in the stairs, yesterday - the ones that follow the line of the Great Zero down to the ferry dock - i missed that completely.

I am Jahuti Rhys. I am a bit out of sync with other people, and I didn't feel the Call until February 2004. By the time I packed my bags, I discovered that the Cavern had been closed. Months of angish gnawing at me because I could not follow the imperative Call. Then Victor Laxman invited me at last in August. I have been in the Cavern since.
I am also called The Stirrer and other, less flattering names. I rail against injustices and fight the unworthy. My causes are not often popular, but they are always just. I have acquired a thick skin and some very good friends. I can be ascerbic to the point of being caustic, but I am loyal to friends and avoid those who are not.

I heard the call to late, so I waited and watched; I found my way in to the cavern and my hart was taken, I stay with the other explorers now and we watch and we play. D’arkuk. _________________ D’arker than the blackest rot of the deepest mid winter |

Welcome all.
I was curious and fascinated by Myst and its series, even though I got caught on to it a bit late. Always working over them on my own, or with a strat guide at my side so I can explore the wonderful stories without worry.
I really did not know or understand about an actual Cavern in existence until November of '03, when the official invites began. Oh, I distinctly remember a survey 'bout a year prior, but I thought nothing of it (though I did answer - 'Not interested').
Clearly, I was skeptical. A *real* cavern? Pah! Eventually though, curiosity won out; I eventually decided to take some of my xmas break and sneak a peek to see what this was all about.
Two full days later (Gods, don't ask!) I had completed the Journey, re-emerged, and signed up. Still did little or no poking online about any of this yet, I just did all this on my own perogative, seeing what would happen. Much to my surprise I got in a few days later (though later heard about the 'error').
One thing was certain however - If *I* was to be present, than its going to be *me* that's going to be showing online in that respect. So I broke with my old forum/online tradition and came in as myself - Timothy S. Kimball, or T_S_Kimball.
That was the most exciting and enjoyable five weeks I ever had, despite everything. I say five, not six, as tomorrow (Feb 9) is my birthday, and was away.
When I came back the following week, I was shocked, mortified, and downright livid. By then I was participating (albeit not much) on the 'Surface' forum hosted by Ubisoft, and found Rand's letter in quick order. My impassioned response (search 'Temporary Farewell from Live') was the last official post I made to that forum, and walked away from *everything* - including an online presense - for six months.
Which makes the fact that a Greeter somehow found me, and mentioned the quiet 'back' entrance that got re-opened, rather surprising (must have left email from forum on or something). But upon learning about it, I got my gear re-assembled and made it back in within 48 hours. I even got the chance to do more searching since then, and have the Jacket to prove it.
The year gone past has been especially important to me. Honor Guard. Unofficial Greeter. Evangelist when on the Surface, anywhere and anyhow I could. I'm even hoping to include the Cavern - the DRC willing - in a discussion event I plan to host in July, at the Dexcon convention in NJ.
So, here it is, two years since a VERY bitter birthday of mine. I can only hope that the DRC will be able to respond soon to the words of that last post (which I *STILL* stand by), and fulfill a long-awaited birthday wish of mine.
